Studio photography used to be the industry norm. If you wanted a photograph, you went into the studio to have your picture taken.

That's just the way it was done.

I am sure we all have some of these studio treasures in a frame or album somewhere that reminds us of those awkward studio moments.

So what is modern day studio photography?

I think for many of us, when we think of studio work we often either think of the moments we experienced getting awkward stiff pictures taken in the past OR we think of stiff harshly lit images that don't have a softness to them.

That is not what you will get when you come in for a studio portrait with me.

My approach when working in the studio is so different than studio work of the past, or even some studio work now, where the images are lacking in something.

In my little studio here in Salem, Utah I create soft light and images that are an honest representation of the little (or big) humans you love. No stiff awkward posing, and no harsh light. I aim to show connection, personality, and capture moments. And I want you to come in and feel comfortable, and at ease, at home.

I also never want my images in the studio to look dated, or trendy. Which is also why I shoot film. It has a softness to it that will always look relevant and classic. ( I also never use use props, unless the props are flowers of course!)

I want to create something for you that will stand the test of time. An image that feels personal, real and authentic of the moment. Something

that will become a loved image.
